Algae Biofuel as alternative fuelAlgae grows naturally along rivers, the seashore, and in the mangrove swamps and even in wastewater treatment ponds. Therefore, it can be grown commercially in man-made ponds. The advantage is that Algae can be grown especially well in desert states that have plenty of sunshine with access to water unusable for traditional agriculture or even with salt water. Algae are tiny biological factories that use photosynthesis to transform carbon dioxide and sunlight into energy so efficiently that they can double their weight several times a day. As part of the photosynthesis process algae produce oil and can generate 15 times more oil per acre than other plants used for biofuels, such as corn and switchgrass. Algae can grow in salt water, freshwater or even contaminated water, at sea or in ponds, and on land not suitable for food production. Theoretically, algae should grow better when given carbon dioxide and organic material like sewage. This is turn could produce biofuel while cleaning up other problems. The lipids from microalgae are suitable for refining into conventional liquid fuels Algae only needs sunshine and non-drinkable water to grow. It has been tested that algae will grow even when temperatures fall below zero. snippet of article Click here for Full Article
